FINCA Afghanistan serves clients throughout the capital and provinces—especially women, ethnic minorities, and returning refugees—with group and individual loans. FINCA Afghanistan was the first microfinance program in the country to offer Shariah-compliant financial services since 2003, which conform to Islamic principles.

FINCA is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious microfinance organization with presence in 20 countries across Africa, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East/South Asia region.

Milestones

2003  
FINCA Afghanistan started its activities with the objective of improving the socio-economic condition of the poor and alleviating poverty through micro credit program.
2004  
Introduced credit programs in response to the demand of the time and need of the poor.
2007  
FINCA Afghanistan registered as a joint stock company.
2011  
FINCA Afghanistan launched conventional loan product.
2014  
FINCA Afghanistan achieved financial sustainability for the first time in the history.
2015  
FINCA Afghanistan launched Agriculture and Livestock Lending. Also expanded to 4 new markets.
 
FINCA Afghanistan operates in Afghanistan as a joint stock company limited by shares and obtained a license from the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA).
